Your Ways Are Higher Than Mine!

For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.

Isaiah 55:8-9

Today words fail me. My heart is hurting for so many who are struggling with things that are out of their control. When others hurt, I feel it deep. It’s part of my make up. It’s one of the Spiritual Gifts the Spirit has given me-The Mercy Shower. I long to make it better, to fix it. I want to do everything in my power to say what is needed, to comfort their pain, to meet their need. And although, I long to do these things, I am reminded that I’m not the one who is in control. There is One who sees the storm from the other side and I can trust that His ways are so much better than mine.

As a frail human, I want to have control, see the big picture but I can’t. I see the now, the mountain in front of me. I want it to move but God may want me to climb it. God, in His Infinite mercy, knows what lies on the other side. He sees what we don’t. He knows that this struggle to climb will draw us closer to Him. We will find that our strength comes from Him.

When our prayers aren’t answered according to what we want. We can trust that God has a plan. We can know that He works all things for our good. Romans 8:28 He has a purpose for our pain, and He will bring beauty out of our brokenness.

To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he might be glorified.

Isaiah 61:3

As much as I want to help, I can’t give hope, joy, strength, beauty, help, or deliverance like Jesus can. If I could, I would wipe those tears away, I would take everything that causes pain but I don’t possess that kind of power. That power belongs to none other than our Lovely Lord Jesus. He is trustworthy. He has never failed and He will be with us even unto the end!

So my friend today, let’s remember that we can trust Him. We can trust His work in our lives and in the lives of our loved ones.
