When Jesus knows we need reassurance

We are human. Being a Christian does not make us exempt from times of frustration, fear, uncertainty and sadness. The beauty, however, of experiencing these emotions while also having faith in God, is that he will speak to us and reassure us all is well. (We must listen for, seek out and recognize his voice!)

3 times Jesus reassured people in just the chapter of Mark 10 alone:

And they were in the way going up to Jerusalem; and Jesus went before them: and they were amazed; and as they followed, they were afraid. And he took again the twelve, and began to tell them what things should happen unto him,

Mark 10:32

Jesus’ disciples had grown accustomed to following Him. This did not mean they never had doubts. It is possible to be amazed by our life with Christ, and by Christ himself, and yet still feel fear on occasion. The important thing is to know what to do when this happens. This verse tells us that the solution for the disciples’ fear was for Jesus to remind them again what his plan was. When we find ourselves in fear, we must go to the Word of God for a refreshing reminder that He is still in control. Pray often. Read the Bible.

And when the ten heard it, they began to be much displeased…But Jesus called them to him and saith unto them…

Mark 10:41-42

When we get frustrated with things in this life, the best thing we can do is draw closer to Jesus! When the world around us overwhelms us, listen for his voice. He still speaks.

And they came to Jericho: and as he went out of Jericho with his disciples and a great number of people, blind Bartimaeus, the son of Timaeus, sat by the highway side begging. And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out, and say, Jesus, thou Son of David, have mercy on me. And many charged him that he should hold his peace: but he cried the more a great deal, Thou Son of David, have mercy on me. And Jesus stood still, and commanded him to be called. And they call the blind man, saying unto him, Be of good comfort, rise; he calleth thee. And he, casting away his garment, rose, and came to Jesus.

Mark 10:46-50

When we are in times of sadness, sickness, and uncertainty in life, we must cry out to the one who has the “cure for what ails us”! Don’t let the crowd around you silence your prayers. He will give you the comfort and reassurance you need for whatever situation you are facing.
