Don’t let the devil win
It was overcast this weekend while Emmie and I were heading into town. Out the Jeep window, there was a patch of sun peeking through the clouds. I thought it was beautiful. She piped up and said “Mom, that reminds me of the Bible story where the heavens opened and the angels were there. Like with Mary and Joseph. And the dark clouds look kind of like the devil is fighting, trying to hide them.” What profound thoughts from an 8 year old. And I pondered them as we drove. A few minutes later the clouds cleared and the rest of the day was beautifully sunny. We were reminded that good/God always prevails.
You know, that’s just like our life. Sometimes all we can see are the dark clouds. The devil and the world fighting us on every side. There will be days we feel like we can barely catch a glimpse of Christ in the midst of all the mess. But he is still there. Always working, always loving us, and taking care of the details.
While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.
2 Corinthians 4:18
Focus on the blessings. Remember that the storms of life will pass. The clouds will clear. Pay attention to the little reminders God will send your way to let you know he has not forsaken you. And hold on to that warmth until the sun is bright again in your life.
Thanks, Emmie for the reminder.
For the LORD God is a sun and shield: the LORD will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly.
