Chances are if you are visiting this website/blog, you are doing so because you are already a Christian lady who is looking for some encouragement along the way. But I wouldn’t be worth my salt, and no true Christian is, if they don’t take the time to share a bit about my savior and explain how you, too, can have a real relationship with Jesus, and not have to worry about your eternal future.
For starters, we don’t need to get “saved”, or “born again”, or “ask Jesus to come into our hearts” because we are bad people. I grew up believing that we are sinners because of the sins we commit; lying, stealing, cheating, etc. This is simply not so. My friend, the reason we commit these sins is because of a nature that was passed onto us from our great, great, great, great grandfather Adam in the garden of Eden. We can’t help but do these things. It’s in our nature. Romans 3:10 “As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one.” None of us are good enough to earn heaven on our own. Romans 3:23 “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.” Again, this is not because of anything we personally have done! In Genesis God placed a curse on mankind because of Adam’s disobedience to Him. Romans 5:12 “Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned.”
Now that we know where this ‘curse’ of sinfulness comes from, what do we do about it? We know that there must be a punishment for being a sinner. Romans 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” The first part of that verse sounds terrible! The word death here means an eternal separation from God. Who would want to spend their eternal hereafter in a place of darkness, pain, turmoil, when they could simply make a choice and spend it in a place called heaven with the God who loves us so? Romans 5:8 “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” Jesus Christ paid the ultimate price to for our forgiveness of sin. The work has already been done, lovelies! We just have to have a desire to turn from this sin nature, and accept the gift!
How do I accept this free gift of salvation, and an eternity with God? Romans 10:9-10 “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”
It really is that simple. Believe that he can, believe that he will, call upon him, ask his forgiveness, and get involved with a good, Bible preaching Church that will help you grow in the nurture of the Lord.
I John 5:13 “These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.”
