3 If the clouds be full of rain, they empty themselves upon the earth: and if the tree fall toward the south, or toward the north, in the place where the tree falleth, there it shall be. 4 He that observeth the wind shall not sow; and he that regardeth the clouds shall not reap. 5 As thou knowest not what is the way of the spirit, [nor] how the bones do grow in the womb of her that is with child: even so thou knowest not the works of God who maketh all. 10 Therefore remove sorrow from thy heart, and put away evil from thy flesh…
Ecclesiastes 11:3-5, 10a
- Number one… Some things in life are a given. Clouds full of rain will empty themselves onto the earth. Even the best scientists have not yet determined how to prevent that from happening. Life, death, sickness, pain, are all real and we all experience them.
- Secondly, there are some things we can’t control or plan for. Wherever a tree falls there it will be. We can only do so much to try to predict where it will fall and stay out of its way. But at the end of the day, we must learn to roll with the punches so to speak.
- There are some things we simply will not understand. Gods way is perfect. We don’t understand why some things happen the way they do, but God works all things out for his glory. Worrying about these things will only keep us from the task at hand. Life will go on, there is work yet to be done.
- Sorrow should not have a permanent dwelling place in our hearts! Continued dwelling in sorrow leads to an evil spirit or bad attitude.
We can’t control it all. We must simply let go of some things. Seek God and move on!
Does it hurt sometimes? Yes. Is there anger in certain circumstances? Absolutely. Acknowledge what you are feeling, and give those feelings to God. He wants to bear your burdens for you. Carrying a heavy load is not meant for you to do daily. Perhaps this is included in ‘dying to self’ in the scripture. Giving up those things which we are most worried about, in order to worry more about the things that Christ desires for us.
This ☝🏻 is a beautiful song and reminder to trust that God is always near. Love you my friends!
