Stepping Into Your Place

My husband and I like to go have a walk on the beach on our date nights. There’s something about the water, salty air and the waves that beacons us. We take off our shoes, hold hands and walk in the water. It is so refreshing and so romantic. We talk and sometimes we just walk and listen to the waves crashing. There have been many evenings when our girls were small that we would go for a walk as a family. The water has always been a place for our family to just get alone with the Lord and let the waves wash away any trials that were weighing us down. The bonus, it doesn’t cost anything.

Do you have a place that you and your husband go? Your family?

If not, my friend, I’d like to encourage you to find your place.

Trials come and sometimes you just need to get away. There are moments you need a breather. Take it. Pack a basket, have a picnic. Make a cup of coffee and go sit outside. Just find your place.

Having a place is so important that Jesus had one Himself.

And he said unto them, Come ye yourselves apart into a desert place, and rest a while: for there were many coming and going, and they had no leisure so much as to eat.

32 And they departed into a desert place by ship privately.

46 And when he had sent them away, he departed into a mountain to pray.

Mark 6:31-32, 46

Jesus had just heard the news of His cousin John the Baptist’s wrongful death. The multitudes thronged Him and He fed 5,000 men plus women and children. He cared about His disciples that were following Him. He knew they, as well as Himself, needed a moment to breathe and regain strength.

Follow Christ’s example and Come apart before you come apart.

Sometimes you just need to be alone with your husband, your children and Jesus.

Don’t be too busy that you miss out on the moments that matter the most.

Stick your toes in the water my friends, there is strength to be found in stepping away.
