Shooting Stars

This past week we had a tremendous week of revival at our church. We had one man saved that the church has been praying for. The last night of revival we had five teenagers saved. They were all visitors. One by one they walked the aisle with tears streaming down their faces. God met with us! The Spirit of the Lord was moving in the hearts of sinners as well as in the hearts of His children.

Revival has ended, now what?!

Sometimes it is so easy to leave everything you heard and learned during revival at the door of the church house. We let the devil come and steal that seed of God’s Word out of our hearts. There are times that we hold to them for a little while and become “Shooting Stars” so to speak. We burn so brightly for a while and then we fizzle out. We don’t let that truth we heard take deep root into our lives. How do we continue on in the things we heard? How do we keep that decision we made for Christ and not leave it there where we made it? How do we not become a Shooting Star?

But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them;

2 Timothy 3:14

Continue…. dwell, abide, endure, be present every single day in God’s Word. When we ae faithful to our personal Bible reading, we will be reminded of our decisions for Christ. He speaks to us through His Word. A sure way to not burn brightly for a little while and just let our light go out is to be faithful to dwell in God’s Word.

Remember the things… the who, what, when, how, where, this. that. The reason why you decided to follow His calling. Remember the real reason, The price He paid for you. He thought we were worth enduring and suffering for. He kept us at the forefront of His mind. So, we can keep Him and our decision daily before us. Shooting stars are bright to begin with but they lose their light. Don’t let the Light of your decision burn out.

Learn…. What you heard preached, what you understood the conviction of the Spirit to change. He didn’t just say change, He shows us how to through preaching, prayer and practicing it. It is not enough to learn that which is good, but we must continue in it, and persevere in it until the end. We can’t be just a hearer of the Word, we must be doers as well. That’s a sure way to continue to shine brightly for Him.

Assured of… the trustworthy, faithful, established. Be faithful because He is faithful! Be trustworthy because He is trustworthy! Be established, immoveable because He is our firm foundation and He never changes. We can know, really know, that the things we have learned and received are to grow us closer to Him. He only calls us to change and make decisions for Him that will be for our good. He wants others to see Him shining in our lives.

Knowing of whom… Be aware of, to see, turn your eyes upon with attention and observe. Remember WHO gave the preacher the message. Remember WHERE he got the message-God’s Word. And remember the WHY God gave the message-to change us more into the image of His Son. It was just for us because our Lord loves us so very much. He is Light and in Him is no darkness at all. We can know that He shines through His man, His word and through us.

My friends, lets not be shooting stars during revival meetings. Don’t appear to shine a little of His glory and then let His Light dim. Let’s be like the stars that are faithful every single night to shine light in this dark and sinful world.

Continue in the things….
