Only one life

Part 3 of 3 part series “The power of ONE”

It has been said “Only one life ’twill soon be past, only what’s done for Christ will last”. This is so true. The things we do (or DON’T do) for Christ will leave the biggest, most lasting impact here on earth. Think about it. What is the most important decision a person can make in their life? Choosing Christ as their savior! This decision changes everything. The path they walk in this life and their future for eternity is all effected by the decision to either follow God or deny Christ. We can make a lot of money. It will disappear. One way or another. When we are gone our money will only last for so long for whomever we leave it to. We can build great things here on Earth. One day they will rot, decay, and pass away, too. We can be as successful in the world’s eyes as we want, but none of these things have an eternal impact on someone’s future.

Someone out there needs YOU to tell THEM about Christ!

When God saved us, then left us here instead of taking us to heaven to live with him forever, he did so for a purpose. Some of you may be thinking, “but I can’t talk to people I don’t know about salvation!”. The truth is, you can. We all have been given the power to do so.

But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

Acts 1:8

When we ask Jesus to come into our heart and save us, we receive the power to great and mighty things for him. Spending some time in prayer, asking the Lord to help you be a better witness is a great idea. How will others know HIM unless someone else tells them? YOU have the power to do that.

YOUR past can be a blessing to someone else!

And unto the Jews I became as a Jew, that I might gain the Jews; to them that are under the law, as under the law, that I might gain them that are under the law;
To them that are without law, as without law, being not without law to God, but under the law to Christ, that I might gain them that are without law.
To the weak became I as weak, that I might gain the weak: I am made all things to all men, that I might by all means save some.
And this I do for the gospel’s sake, that I might be partaker thereof with you.

1 Corinthians 9:20-22

God allows us to go through seasons in our life. Sometimes to be able to help others who go through similar seasons. Many of us have a past we don’t like so much. Perhaps we have experienced the things we have, in order to know how to pray for and help others around us. How can I tell you sincerely it is possible to overcome an addiction, when I myself have not overcome mine? How can I be an example to you in raising children to serve the Lord, when I don’t even have children? We all like people who practice what they preach. (Of course this doesn’t mean we have to bare our souls and tell our business to everyone we meet! It simply means we have a well from which to draw and feed others in specific circumstances. Make sense?) Use your experiences, along with knowledge, wisdom, and discernment from God to help those around you.

The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that winneth souls is wise.

Proverbs 11:30

Every soul matters to God.

As a Christian, everything we do is, or should be, for the furtherance of the gospel. We must train ourselves to see every place we go as an opportunity. Being a witness isn’t as complicated as we make it seem. Just tell others why you smile. (You need to smile first, though!) Explain to them why you have a pep in your step. (But be peppy first.) Share with them the methods behind parenting your well behaved children. (Prayer, consistency, and help from the Lord is the ONLY way to parent successfully!) Then when others accept Christ and join the family of God, rejoice with them! If it doesn’t excite you to see others get saved, then mark it down, you won’t be a good witness.

Likewise, I say unto you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repenteth.
