He’s Still The Same Christ!

Have you ever read the book by Darlene Deibler Rose, Evidence Not Seen? Oh, if you haven’t, then you want to add it to your list of must reads. The first time I read this book was probably 20 years ago. I read it aloud during our family book reading time as my daughters were growing up. They loved it so much that they read it over and over again through the years. I recently purchased the audiobook to listen to. Sometimes when I can’t sleep or I am facing an unknown, I listen to it. Last night I turned on the audiobook and this phrase stuck out to me. I can’t tell you how many times I have read the book or listened to it but never once has this stuck out like it did. “Today’s sea’s are still subject to the Christ of Galilee.” Wow, just wow! Yes they are. There is nothing new that we face that He is not in control of.

And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.

Mark 4:39

Have you awoken to the winds of change?

Has some unexpected storm blown in and is rocking your boat?

Is there something that you just feel that you’re at your wit’s end about?

Do you feel like you’re about to go under?

Psalm 61:1-2 “Hear my cry, O God; attend unto my prayer. 2 From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee, when my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is higher than I.”

I looked up overwhelmed. It means to faint, come to the end of, like the end of a border, rope etc. then it cross references with this verse.

Mark 14:33-34 “And he taketh with him Peter and James and John, and began to be sore amazed, and to be very heavy; 34 And saith unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful unto death: tarry ye here, and watch.”

And

Luke 22:44 “And being in an agony he prayed more earnestly: and his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground.”

I thought Jesus has been where we are. He knows what it’s like to feel at the end of your rope or in the storm-To be overwhelmed. Yet He sinned not. He is touched with the feelings of our infirmities. He knows what we are facing. When we are overwhelmed. When we are hurting. We may feel alone. He Knows! We aren’t alone. He is with us. He is still the same Christ who calmed the storm for the disciples on the Sea of Galilee! He can calm the storm in us and for us.

My friend, Christ is still the same. He longs to be in the boat with you. He longs for you to come to Him. Lay at His feet, give it to Him, and trust the Him! He knows!

Don’t give up in the storm. Keep looking to Him. Our miracle is right within reach! This storm has nothing on our Lord! He’s still the Same!

Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.
