Be the remnant

Daniel. Job. Noah. Some of us learned their stories as children. Perhaps it was in a Sunday school class, or vacation Bible school. Maybe you learned their names more recently, as an adult in a Church sanctuary. These three men stood out in each of their times in history as mighty men of God, who refused to back down and give in to the wickedness in the world around them. And God blessed their lives because of that. He preserved them and sometimes their families amidst the destruction and peril that was all around them. We call them the remnant.

God always has a remnant

Through every dispensation of time, God has always provided a remnant of his people. Those who are left behind to carry on, they are blessed of God, taken care of, provided for. Those who he deals kindly with when all around them is going crazy. He has a reason for this. God leaves this remnant of believers to share His word and His will for all to be saved with others.

Be the remnant

Yet, behold, therein shall be left a remnant that shall be brought forth, both sons and daughters: behold, they shall come forth unto you, and ye shall see their way and their doings: and ye shall be comforted concerning the evil that I have brought upon Jerusalem, even concerning all that I have brought upon it. And they shall comfort you, when ye see their ways and their doings: and ye shall know that I have not done without cause all that I have done in it, saith the Lord God.

Ezekiel 14:22-23

A sin-sick world is nothing new. Evil doers, and wickedness have always been around. It is possible the nastiness just stands out more, or is harder to get away from these days. Perhaps, thanks to media and technology, it is more in our faces than ever before. Whatever the case may be, we can and should still continue to be the remnant. Don’t bow down and “go with the flow”. Fight hate with love. Fight darkness with light.

How?

Live a good Christian life, don’t just talk the talk. Those who preach and teach the Word of God, keep doing it! We must not sit down. We must stand unapologetically on the Word, and show others WHY our nation is going down the path it is: SIN. There is a remedy for this sin. Only the blood of Jesus, and his forgiveness can make things right. Speak light, love, grace, calm, and all the things your town needs to hear. Be the shining example of Christ’s love. Comfort one another – be calm. Remember, God’s got this!
