The joys of motherhood

A reminder for busy Mamas

The dishes need drying, the floor's needing mopped.
The baby is crying, and crumbs are being dropped.

Legos all over the floor scattered 'round, and a clean pair of socks nowhere to be found.
The toddler just wants one more book to be read, and Mom all the while has a throbbing in her head!

So much to be done, and they're growing so fast. These days soon are ending,
their childhoods past.

In the midst of the chaos and mess everywhere, let us not grow weary in teaching and prayer.
Little eyes see through the faรงades we put up, they know our insides - down deep in our gut.
As they grow older, those cookies you baked, won't be as remembered as the faith that you faked.

So spend your time well, on the things that will last,
and watch as God's blessings your life will amass!

Moms, we all have a million things to do each day. We feel pulled in many different directions, and can get easily carried away by/in our responsibilities in life. Don’t ever forget the most important things. Your greatest mission field is within the walls of your own home. You can have the greatest impact for Christ here! But also, if we are not careful, our sourpuss, stressed out, “stretched too thin” attitudes will rule. These attitudes have the power to turn our children off from the things of God.

Our emotions get the best of us sometimes…

If all our children see is a Mom who is worried constantly, overly emotional, angry, impatient, and doesn’t have time for them, they draw certain conclusions: Mom’s faith must not be real. The God she talks about must not really be able to handle all her problems- she is always trying to fix them herself. Having a family must be too stressful if it makes her angry like this. I must be a burden. And the list goes on… Be careful Mama!

And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things: But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.

Luke 10:41-42

Remember the important things. How much time do you spend on things with eternal value? Prioritize your day by these things. Incorporate Bible truths into everyday tasks. For example, need to bake something for the school bake sale? While in the kitchen with your children, discuss the Bible story about how Jesus multiplied the loaves and fishes and fed thousands. Rushing out the door to make piano lessons? While brushing little hair and teeth, sing gospel songs or work on memorizing scripture together. When our mouths are busy praising God, they cannot be yelling at one another!

I’m rooting for you this morning, Mom. We can do this crazy life together in Christ. Stay focused on him. Remember where your help comes from! Love you.
