Will you worship this Sunday?

I wanna go to Church!

When I got saved almost 18 years ago, so many things about me changed. One of these being the desire to get up on Sunday mornings and go to Church! It is something the lost world does not understand. The desire to be near God’s people, and hear his word preached. Now that I have spent time in the word of God, and I have learned more about my salvation and relationship with God, I get it. I understand why Church participation satisfies my soul, and worship satisfies a longing in my heart.

And it shall be, that whoso will not come up of all the families of the earth unto Jerusalem to worship the King, the LORD of hosts, even upon them shall be no rain.
And if the family of Egypt go not up, and come not, that have no rain; there shall be the plague, wherewith the LORD will smite the heathen that come not up to keep the feast of tabernacles.

Zechariah 14:17-18

I know, my Bible scholar friends, this is an Old Testament passage. I am applying the truth herein, however, to the New Testament, Church age fact that worshiping God is important! Throughout scripture the Holy Spirit and the Bible itself are often referred to as the living water. The “cleansing” agent (along with the blood of Christ) that washes us, and makes us new. These verses in Zechariah are a reminder that if we don’t set aside time to worship God, our spirit will experience a dry season. Moreover, if we continue to miss out on times of worship, we will experience a drought. But coming together to worship with other Christian families will be like rain for our thirsty souls.

Don’t think Church is important?

Here are some other things God has to say about Church attendance and participation:

Now the God of patience and consolation grant you to be likeminded one toward another according to Christ Jesus:
That ye may with one mind and one mouth glorify God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Romans 15:5-6

And the next sabbath day came almost the whole city together to hear the word of God.

Acts 13:44

Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.

Hebrews 10:25

Is your soul thirsty? Are you feeling parched spiritually? I GUARANTEE you listening to podcasts, watching an online service, and reading devotionals (while wonderful options) won’t fill your ‘rain barrel’ like worshiping in person with God’s children will. Go to Church Sunday. Then come back here and post a comment below to tell us a blessing you received while you were there, so we can rejoice together.
