So much hurt. So many broken hearts. Too much hatred. And an overwhelming desire to have power over one another. Why is it this way? And better yet, what is the cure? I want to share some scriptures with you, and allow the Bible to speak for itself, with a little explanation here and there. I hope this is an encouragement to you. Especially if you have been struggling with the tragedies and hate we see so frequently anymore in our nation. I’m praying for comfort and peace for you all, and those affected directly by these tragedies.
Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin…
Romans 5:12
This one man was Adam. He disobeyed God in the beginning of time, soon after everything was created. The consequence for this disobedience was the curse of sin upon everyone that would ever live thereafter.
…for the imagination of man’s heart is evil from his youth…
Genesis 8:21
We must learn to use Biblical words. Call things what they are. Mean=evil. Bad=evil
We have a bad habit of watering down what the Bible says. For example; we call sinful wickedness by other names, such as naughtiness, rebellion, mischief. It sounds a lot better that way. (Just as it’s a lot easier to justify murdering an unborn child, by calling it “aborting a fetus”. When you are expecting a baby, the Bible says you are with child. The word “pregnant”, by the way, didn’t even exist until the 14-1500s. Sorry, just a little rant, while we’re on the subject of word changes!)
Foolishness is bound in the heart of a child; but the rod of correction shall drive it far from him.
Proverbs 22:15
What we need to teach children, is correction. Not new gender rules, or modern made-up foolishness. They have enough foolishness that they are born with. Remember, that sin nature that is imputed unto them from Adam? We must correct them, discipline them, lead and guide them to God!
For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders,
Mark 7:21-23
Thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness:
All these evil things come from within, and defile the man.
And he did evil, because he prepared not his heart to seek the LORD.
2 Chronicles 12:14
The bottom line is this: Evil is a heart problem. It comes from within.
Evil and foolishness (also called folly, wickedness, etc. in the Bible) are written on our hearts the day we are born. We will continue therein, unless we meet God head on and have a life-altering salvation experience. By the way, ANY true salvation experience is a life-altering one! The way to a changed life is through a changed heart. And the way to a changed heart, is through Christ. And once we begin to see souls saved, and lives changed, our world will begin to be a little more kind. A little less hurtful. A little more forgiving.
That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
Romans 10:9-10
For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
