In this fast paced world, we go at high speed and barely ever slow down. We’ve got to hurry up, get there and get things done.
Sometimes in life We come to a crossroads. We’re not sure where we’re going. So we sit at the stop sign.
Waiting for direction.
Waiting for the right path to take.
We don’t like to be still, doing nothing or going anywhere.
But here we are stopped dead in our tracks, idling.
God has brought us to a time of waiting and we’re wondering what could be the reason.
What could be the purpose?
Why wait?
Why can’t I be busy doing my calling?
Sometimes God brings us to a place of waiting to show us His purpose for our lives.
What’s His Purpose?
Stand in awe, and sin not: commune with your own heart upon your bed, and be still. Selah.
Psalm 4:4 KJV
God wants us to stop right where we are and think about who He is! In Deuteronomy 4:39 “Know therefore this day, and consider it in thine heart, that the LORD he is God in heaven above, and upon the earth beneath: there is none else.” Remember WHO He is. He is the Almighty, Creator, Jehovah, Saviour, and He IS Our LORD!
As we’re in complete awe of Him, we want to keep our heart right with Him. “Order my steps in thy word: and let not any iniquity have dominion over me.” Psalm 119:133. Any step we take, we want to learn complete obedience and not turn aside with sin.
I’ve found that in the stillness of night, when everything is quiet, I do the best soul searching. We need to dig deep within ourselves. While we are standing in awe, keeping our hearts right, let’s commune or talk with our own hearts. Do a diligent search. “Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates? “ 2 Corinthians 13:5. Why do I live for Him? My answer…Because September 17, 1996 He saved me. He changed everything about me. He lives in me, I can do whatever He desires.
If His Will is for me to Be Still, then so be it. It’s in the times of solitude that I see His Hand. “Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.” Psalm 46:10. Staying put takes strength. That’s where we learn the most.
There’s nothing I want more than to know Him.
Waiting has purpose.
Waiting shows me my Lord!
So I’ll sit here at the crossroads. I’ll be faithful waiting for His next command.
My friend, He has a purpose for you, don’t run ahead! Just keep Waiting!
